The World Is Not Against You: How to Overcome Global Disappointments and Become Invincible in Business

We often talk about negative mindsets that hinder business and personal growth. But what if we focus on the opposite? Which mental frameworks can serve as a foundation for growth? In this article, I will share three key "empowering" beliefs that allow me to navigate complex issues, engage in creativity, and avoid major life disappointments.

I will also touch upon the transformation of mindset. If letting go of the "work hard to earn big" belief can improve quality of life, then what beliefs actually yield results? Here are three fundamental principles that underpin my worldview.

Competence as a Choice

The first and perhaps most basic belief concerns intellectual flexibility. I believe that one can master absolutely any subject if there is an interest in it.

There are no closed doors or unfathomable sciences. If understanding the mechanics of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) becomes important to you — you can master it. If the goal is to increase personal effectiveness and organization — it is attainable. If you need to master the finest nuances of the English language — that is also realistic. The main driver here is personal interest. Confidence in one's own ability to master any field removes the fear of the unknown.

A Friendly World and Personal Responsibility

My second belief changes the perception of the external environment. The world is friendly; it is not a generator of difficulties, nor does it intentionally set up obstacles in front of a person.

All the barriers we encounter, we create ourselves. Any difficulty on the path is the result of our own choices, decisions made, incompetence, or a reluctance to face the truth. Realizing that the world is not hostile, but merely reflects our actions, shifts the focus from finding someone to blame to analyzing cause-and-effect relationships.

The Value of One's Own Perspective

My third belief lies in the realm of creativity and self-expression. It is formulated simply: "My point of view is of high value."

This is a critically important mindset for any creator. It is impossible to imagine an artist or musician achieving success while doubting the significance of their vision. The belief that your thoughts, ideas, and assessments of "right" and "wrong" are important is the fuel for any creative activity. Without faith in the value of your own voice, it is impossible to create anything worthwhile.

Why Major Disappointments Are Impossible

The belief that the world does not create barriers and that responsibility lies with the individual naturally leads to an absence of global disappointments in life.

When you understand that you are the author of your own circumstances, there is no room left for resentment toward fate. Of course, emotional reactions are inevitable. One can get upset when facing failure. But the first emotion is followed by an analytical stage. A person asks themselves: "How did I create this?", "Why did it happen?", "How did I get here?".

As soon as the answers are found, the disappointment vanishes. The situation stops being a tragedy and becomes a task. "Okay, I get it, let's go fix it" — this is exactly how a constructive approach to mistakes sounds. Small failures happen, but they do not escalate into drama; they transform into experience and new actions.
